Our Story
The Bank of Commerce was founded on August 3, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, by a group of local entrepreneurs who saw a clear need for a dedicated community bank to serve small businesses and the agricultural sector. With an initial investment of $8 million, their vision took root—and today, The Bank of Commerce has grown to over $2 billion in assets, serves more than 26,000 customers, and employs over 200 people.
Our original branch at 1020 Northgate Mile in Idaho Falls has since expanded into a network of locations across Southeastern Idaho, including Shelley, Rigby, Ririe, Mud Lake, Rexburg, Driggs, Blackfoot, Pocatello, American Falls, and Dillon, Montana.
For 34 consecutive years, The Bank of Commerce has proudly earned a 4- or 5-star rating from Bauer Financial and has been recognized by Money magazine as one of the strongest banks in the country—an honor based on stringent standards for equity, profitability, liquidity, and loan quality. We’re also consistently ranked among the Top 100 Banks in Agricultural Lending nationwide (Source: FDIC statistics).
Supporting our community is more than a mission—it’s a core value. We believe a community bank’s role extends beyond banking; it’s about enriching the lives of those around us. In 2023, our employees donated over 6,400 volunteer hours to local causes, and we’re committed to staying actively engaged in every community we serve.
Unlike tax-exempt institutions, The Bank of Commerce proudly contributes to our communities by paying taxes that support local infrastructure and public services.
While we embrace technology to improve transaction convenience, we remain focused on building strong customer relationships. Technology can enhance what we do, but it can never replace the personalized service and commitment of our team.
